Nokia E7, Our First Impressions

A week ago, Nokia He presented the latest and the most complete business-oriented E-Series range: the new Nokia E7. It was not the first time we saw it (photos and videos had filtered), but the Nokia World was the first occasion for Xatakamovil put you hand. Of course, we didn’t want to waste it.

We leave a preliminary analysis of this great phone, which keyboard and screen speak for themselves. We review design and hardware without stopping us in the operating system, Symbian ^ 3, because it is not finished yet (reason why the launch of the N8 still delaying). The system works well, but the behavior is not optimal to change the orientation of the screen or virtual desktop.

Quick look at video and design

Sorry for the rush with which the video is recorded

On design issues (and almost everything else) the Nokia E7 is a N8 with most screen and sliding keyboard. It will depend on the user that these two properties of the E7 are an advantage or a disadvantage regarding the N8, as the keyboard is heavy and barely fit in pockets where the N8 between narrowly. Eye, the size difference It is evident, but it is not too important (just one centimeter more high); that Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words and more below, in the Gallery, you have a photo where a yellow a black E7 N8 is compared.

In short, we can ensure that the Nokia E7 is big So what its 176 grams are noticed. Despite this, it is a comfortable terminal thanks to characteristic curves and cuts, even to be used in vertical position with one hand. Now the winning position is two hands and with the keyboard open, time in which any geek self-respecting should reach ecstasy. We devote the following paragraph.

The keyboard

Slide the keyboard is a kind of game, you have to get the hang. With a finger, it is certainly impossible (in the video I did trap), is achieved with two thumbs to push from the bottom. Desperate first, nothing to worry since then. Once open we are with the best full QWERTY keyboard that has made Nokia.

There was room to spare, so (paste) keys are large and are separated. The space bar is where wanted it, in the Centre (not like the n97), and although “, Q, Z ” and other columns are aligned in a straight line (and not a diagonal, as in computer keyboards), We can write without any errors with very little experience.

The screen

During the Nokia World 2010 we were amazed with the AMOLED Nokia ClearBlack Displays, “whose Blacks are blacker than black itself” as Anssi Vanjoki joked. These screens solve the problem of visibility of the previous AMOLED full light of the Sun since they block the light through a polarizing filter and have a very high contrast and brightness as we have just seen in the Samsung SuperAMOLED.

The Nokia E7 leads a 4-inch capacitive touch CBD, a screen that inevitably strikes. Their vivid colors they laugh at a Retina Display, but the laughs at the same time the number of pixels which Nokia has circulated on the widescreen display of the E7: 640 × 360; they know a little in a big panel.
